About Us

A Catholic apostolate for community life

Commonplace exists because there’s a gap in how most people experience the life of the Church. Our faith is meant to be deeply communal but the structures and systems that enabled that in the past don’t exist anymore.

How we got
started

In 2024, a group of Catholic young adults involved in campus ministry and parish in Halifax realized something — we’d never experienced community this good before. We wanted to learn how to continue living our faith this way for the long haul and to share what was working, and the newsletter On Becoming Love was born. Here we are, two years later, working with Catholics from all over who want to build that community in ordinary life wherever they are.
